I installed a 512mb within my dell inspiron 1000 and it doesnt work, can someone plz backing me?

its a 512mb soDimm at 333mhz, when i bought it it say it is compatable with my laptop. for some explanation my computer doesnt recognize it.

Remove the New Memory that you installed and restart.



That model computer requires:

DDR SDRAM - 266 MHz



That one you added is incompatible.

Take it fund to the store from which you purchase it from and have them exchange it for the above specs.
Probably it's not the right memory get that laptop...if you go to http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?s=ge... here is shows what mem do you call for....
It may be compatible, but it is the right memory for that motherboard? Check the old stick of memory, better however take it next to you when you return the new stick that you bought and get hold of a stick like the matured one. Actually your paperwork that came next to the laptop should have that information, otherwise it is written on the aged stick of memory.
