u necessitate an operating system install disk then ... theres no point contained by making an image or retrieval disk if its already messed up ...
The truth is, you probably can't, or at least don't want to. If you reformat the drive you will lose everything, including the operating system. If you don't enjoy a recovery disk or an install disk for an operating system, after you won't be able to nouns an OS onto the drive, making it pretty much useless, except as a secondary drive on another computer. I don't ruminate that's what you want.
Check on your computer, there should be an Sony Recovery Utility to create your own utility discs. Or, in attendance may be a recovery divider on your hard dr ive. You can use this to format your computer as in good health. At least, that's how my HP is. I don't know if sonys are like, I'm assuming so.

**If the OS be installed on the laptop and you did not get an OS disc, but you did achieve a recovery disc (lost it) then formating is OK, because the OS is stored within a protected portion of the hard drive which does NOT find formatted. The recovery disc will complete all the functions as if you have an OS disc.
