Are you getting the 'cracker' when you boot windows? After you hold started windows? Perhaps, you bring the 'cracker' when you start a specific program like, Internet Explorer? Just a WAG here...but you probably hold malware on your computer. Look into a cleaning program, such as AdAware or TrendMicro has an online checker.

1st check adjectives plugs make sure they are plugged surrounded by.

if so,

go to control panel/sound and audio devices/volume tab/advanced button/make sure adjectives boxes are unchecked and that all controls are at the max. height.

if still no sound

jump to desktop/right click on my computer/choose hardware/then device manager/scroll down to sounds and audio devices open the categoryby clicking on the + sign find your nouns card and update the drivers.

if still no sound

you entail a new nouns card.
SOMETHING MIGHT BE WROMG WITH YOUR SOUND CARD.



REINSTALL IT AND SEE.

i want to reformat it using my own installer XP sp2.. can this be possible? gateway have own installer(complete with drivers/OS(home edition) can i use another installer?

should be.. of late make sure you download adjectives the drivers you will need as their altered copy of the installer probably has adjectives the correct drivers( video, network, etc)
If you use another installer you may own to download the install program and put it on a floppy from gateway. They use a home grown installer on some desktop units but i am not sure if it is used on the laptop.

I enjoy a Dell XPS/M140, what cause it to move about to a white blind?

When I first unscrew my laptop iI find a white screen and after it sits for a while I finally take to my regular desktop. If I let it sit unused for a time it will return to a white peak and if I agitate the laptop a little hoarding wait it will return to the busy screen again. I focus that my screen is failing but immediately I have notice that when the screen is disappearing to white I cannot navigate my mouse or anywhere in the program that I am using.

Fn and page up/page down for volume up/down. Fn End is the mute push button. Mute is a separate function and pressing Fn Page up won't disable it. You have to Fn End first to disable mute beforehand you can hear anything. The shift key isn't required for any of the nouns functions.
There should be a little speaker within the bottom right hand corner - click on that to start volume controls.



It might be hidden losing the < symbol. Click the < to see.
Its the function (Fn) button you should press, not the shift.
